About Bearing Risk
Bearing Risk is the sponsor entity, a separately owned company responsible for contributing the startup capital and organizing Ballast Mutual. It is responsible for sourcing and maintaining each customer’s relationship with the program and supports the orderly exit of firms that determine they wish to leave.
As program sponsor, Bearing Risk maintains the technology stack and distribution front-end through which members and their brokers apply and onboard into Ballast Mutual. It earns a fee on Total Premium (5.0%) plus a percentage of pretax underwriting profits (15.0%).
General Manager of Bearing Risk
The General Manager’s background includes structured insurance solutions, portfolio and relationship management, with experience at Marsh McLennan, Truist Bank, and MetLife. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
At Bearing Risk he oversees strategic execution, day-to-day operations, and member relations, working with industry stakeholders, brokers, and regulatory bodies to maintain the program’s financial integrity and operational standards. He presently serves on the executive board of Junior Achievement of East Tennessee, a Clinton, TN based not-for-profit aimed at supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs through financial education.
The Bearing Risk Team
Bearing Risk is building a small operating team alongside the General Manager to support commercial distribution and technical underwriting discipline for the nuclear supply chain.
Head of Sales
Position in formation. The role is intended for a commercial leader with background in structured products or institutional distribution. Prior experience as a derivatives or structured-finance officer at a major bank is representative of the profile under consideration.
Criticality and Quality Assurance Expert
Position in formation. The role is intended for deep technical expertise in nuclear quality assurance, criticality safety, or related security initiatives. Prior director-level experience at a publicly traded nuclear company is representative of the profile under consideration.
